Congratulations to the 2023 Renie Steves LDEI Conference Scholarship winner

I struggled a bit on how to start this write up regarding my ability to attend the LDEI Conference in Kentucky…how could I adequately discuss the pride and camaraderie and blessings that I received by this opportunity? First, I’d like to say that it was truly an honor to attend with the knowledge of Renie Steves and the legacy she has left upon not only the Dallas chapter, but the international chapter, and every person she met. Every story I got to hear about her, every bit of love that pours out for such an amazing woman was a constant reminder of how lucky I am to be involved with this group and now understand WHY Renie was so dedicated to the attendance of the international conference ever year. She never missed and I can wholeheartedly understand why now.

Being in the presence of so many wonderful women and getting to hear their stories and see the impact that our organization has had on so many lives was moving to the point of tears on many occasions during the 3 days I was lucky enough to attend. I not only learned new things, met amazing women, took notes like crazy on the awesome seminars that were offered, but I see our mission through service with a fresh set of eyes. I am honored to be on the Dallas board and one day hope to be as dedicated and inspiring as Renie was to all who encountered her, she was a Dame over 35 years and served on our board as well as the International board, what a legacy that is. The ability to attend in her honor will be something I never forget and I hope to be like her and never miss a conference or miss the ability to touch someone’s heart and life like she did.
