The "Let Them Eat Cake!" a Cakewalk and Tablescape Competition benefitting the philanthropies of Dallas LDE was held in the Center Park section of  NorthPark Mall June 6, 7 and 8, 2008.

Local Pastry chefs from venues such as The Ritz Carlton, Rosewood's Mansion on Turtle Creek and Hotel Crescent Court, TART Bakery, Northwood Country Club and The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Dallas spent all day Friday, June 6th, creating beautiful wedding cakes which were then displayed on spectacular tablescapes created by North Park Retailers. The cake competition was judged by chocolatier and cookbook author Alice Medrich,  wedding event specialist and TV talent W. Donnie Brown, and Frosted Arts Executive Pastry Chef Bronwen Webber.

The winning cake enteries were: Judge's Choice - Nina Hunter, Art Institute of Dallas; Popular Choice 1st place- Morgan Wilson, Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dallas; Popular Choice, 2nd Place - David Collier, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The Winning Tablescapes were: 1st Place - The Nasher Sculpture Center Store; 2nd Place,- Ducky-Bob's Event Specialists; 3rd Place - todd.event design.creative services

Proceeds fom raffle ticket sales benefitted the Les Dames d'Escoffier Family Gateway Culinary Education Program. The winners received NorthPark Gold which is "good as gold" at any NorthPark retailer.

"The Cake Mixer" wine and hors d'oeuvre event hosted by Les Dames d'Escoffier members on Friday evening, June 6th to preview the finished cakes and tablescapes was a resounding success and we hope to do it again next year as our fund raiser.
